This was a very complex project which required careful coordination and liaison with the main developer to ensure our client’s interests were protected.
We were appointed by Citygate Church to develop design proposals for a new community church in Bournemouth. The project was a joint venture between Citygate Church who owned the land and Watkin Jones a private developer. The resulting scheme was a large urban regeneration project comprising of a community church on the ground storey (with a mezzanine) with a large student accommodation above. Our role was to develop internal fit out proposals whilst safeguarding the interests of the church given the nature of the large scale construction project proposed for the site.
The proposed development included complex coordination issues for the structure and services of the student accommodation which had to drop through the proposed church without causing undue layout constraints. Our role included developing interior design proposals that included a new 1500 seat multi purpose auditorium complete with AV installation. In addition a new café and kitchen was included in the design serving refreshments to the church community and public. A crèche and multi purpose meetings rooms allowed the church to hold functions for families and small groups. A suite of office and admin rooms completes the scheme.
