The challenge with this project was the unusual operational requirement to house all the company functions under one roof. This required careful internal planning to ensure each user group had the required connectivity to other groups.
We were commissioned by Portsmouth Water to produce a feasibility study and masterplan for their new Havant Campus. The brief for the project evolved from a strategic review of the business by an independent work place consultant and was driven by the desire to have an integrated working arrangement, bringing all the functions of Portsmouth Water under one roof. The proposed design includes new open plan office areas, meeting areas, technical, research and laboratory areas.
The architecture, as with other aspects of the scheme, is carefully considered to present a quiet, calm, and restrained character. The simple form of the building, and the cohesive architectural language, will create a strong and clear contemporary office design reinforced through the external materials and horizontal layering strategy. The landscape design is an intelligent response to the site boundary conditions and proposed external functions required for a building of this nature and relate directly to the internal uses within the building.
