Boyle & Summers have done a great job and our new facility provides a home where we can remain at the innovative forefront of the marine industry. We are fully invested in Southampton and the marine technology industry for the foreseeable future.

Ocean Infinity, Southampton

11,600 sqm NA Southampton

Ocean Infinity (OI) are a world-leading marine robotics company. Their new state-of-the-art, remote control and data centre, on the former Vosper Thornycroft shipyard, ensures this historic site continues to have a significant role to play in marine development.

Sustainability is a key aspect of OI’s business, so it was important that our proposals reflected this. Low embodied energy materials, exposed ceilings, natural timber finishes and biophilic features were just some of the sustainably-focussed solutions employed.

A double-height reception area with sculptural, spiral staircase provides an impactful entrance, whilst the control centre houses specialised units from which OI personnel command its robotic ships and underwater vehicles around the world.

Our design also needed to provide an office workplace where creativity and innovation could flourish. The high-quality and distinctive space created helps foster a culture of efficiency, collaboration and communication, that is both fit for the present and sufficiently flexible for long-term occupation.

Fit out of 11,600sqm Class B1 and B2 manufacturing and testing space, including an additional 540sqm mezzanine
