Two distinctive aspects of this project were the limitation on unit numbers and the steep, south-facing slope on which to build. The low density scheme allowed for significant space between buildings – which ensured generous public open space, and enabled each plot to have a proper garden, with those at the top of the hill having panoramic views towards Langstone Harbour.
Buildings and public realm were both specified to a high standard, reflecting expected sales values, with house facades facing the view designed to incorporate larger windows as well as terraces, verandas and first floor balconies.
A detailed consent was achieved for 47 houses, including 13 affordable dwellings, and the scheme is currently on site.
